My issue was with the removable tips falling off too easily, which affected the sound quality, and the cord always kinking, which made them annoying and uncomfortable.I recently obtained a replacement pair and I feel compelled to share my thoughts on the new, improved headphones. The cord is much better and does not kink up like the old one.
In my opinion, the earlier version should have never cleared Quality Control, but kudos to the Bose product developers and customer relations teams for listening to their customers and adjusting their product accordingly. As a result of the better fit, the sound quality also seems to be better than it was in the old set, even though the audio specs are probably the same.
The ear tips no longer fall off; they even seem to fit more securely and comfortably in my ears. I had no issue with the old plug design but the current one is certainly better.
A couple months ago, I wrote a rather scathing review on the older version of these in-ear headphones. In my opinion, Bose got it right with this redesign.
Another minor improvement is in the design of the plug; it is now angled and less cumbersome than the old one.
And this is not with any extreme, out of the ordinary use. Yes.the sound quality is exceptional, yes.they are comfortable.but I've now had two pairs that haven't lasted more than 5 months (I'm jealous of the ones complaining they've had a year out of them) when the wiring starts to go at the base by the plug. If you have no problem with spending $200 a year on Ipod headphones, go for it.but I'm done.
I think the description was a little off because they came in a case that was not made for the earbuds and the description was opened but never used. But I just wanted the earbuds and they were $120 in the Bose store, so I'm satisfied. The earbuds are great. Also the instructions were for stereo headphones, not the product I received.
For $20 less than the Bose, try the Klipsch you will be happy you did. Some kind of a short in the wiring. The sound is good(Klipsch S4 sound much better for less money), but the left earbud stopped working after a year of office use. was spent. Quick and easy. dont waste your money. After reading the Bose reviews found I was not alone, wish I would of read them before the [.].
I think $100 is just too much to spend on a pair of headphones which have exceptional sound quality, but are unreliable. I am leaning toward buying a competitor, though. But the same result occurred, again just over a year after I purchased them; the sound came out of only one ear. Out of the several different pairs of headphones that I've owned, these Bose by far have the best sound quality. Therefore, I purchased the newer model, advertised here. On the one hand, I'm disinclined to spend $100 on a pair that I fear will break again in 12 months or so.
On the other hand, I am afraid that it will be too hard going back to a competitor pair of headphones with inferior sound (I've tried a friend's pair of other headphones since I've been using the Bose, and the difference in sound quality was so much worse). The treble and bass, highs and lows, are all perfect, and the sound is crystal clear.Nevertheless, I only gave them 3 stars because they don't last much more than a year, at least if you use them on an everyday basis as I do. Because this was the first model that came out (just a black string, instead of the black and white string now used), I figured it was just a defieciency with the original pair. I am not rough with the headphones, and am pretty careful where I leave them (usually in my drawer). I am actually on my second pair, and both have now failed me. I agree with all the reviewers who say that the sound quality of these headphones is exceptional.
After a little more than a year with my first pair, the sound came out of only one ear. In any event, for $100, one would think that they would last well more than a year. Now faced with yet another broken pair, I'm still debating what to do.
